Play for Elham

Registered Charity 1129105

Play for Elham, is a registered charity, founded in 2008, and is responsible for providing and maintaining the King George V playfield and The Gore.

Whilst we are supported by Elham Parish Council, we are expected to be an independent fund-raiser.

Funds raised allow us to maintain the King George V play park to a high standard for the children of this village and surrounding villages.

This year following our annual ROSPA report we revamped the existing play equipment to ensure we comply with the necessary Health & Safety standards for playground equipment. Much of the equipment is now over 15 years old and so the repair and replacement costs to existing equipment came to almost £4k and plans are in place to provide a new piece of equipment in 2026. Our charity has been prudent over the last 3 years and ring-fenced funds to allow for these repairs along with insurance costs and general maintenance.

In 2026 we will be looking at improving our revenue stream and fundraising. The Gore continues to be the home of Elham Valley Football Club, established in 2022 and the Pavillon & adjoining containers are in the process of being refurbished, which will allow us to once more to rent the facilities, with this in mind we have also made a contribution towards this refurbishment.

We partner the Environmental group in the KGV with the flourishing herb garden providing fresh herbs to one and all, along with a wildflower area. The KGV is also home to the Jubilee tree which was planted there as part of the Queen’s Green canopy.

We are looking forward to increasing our fundraising at the KGV in 2026 and giving the young community of Elham a play park to be proud of, along with more sporting activities at The Gore

In anticipation of your support, Christeen, Janene, Brian & Claire – Trustees.
